Calculator Policy

For calculations, you have two options:

  • Use your own approved calculator — The NCEES-approved calculators for 2026 include:
    • Casio: All fx-115 and fx-991 models
    • Hewlett Packard: HP 33s and HP 35s models only
    • Texas Instruments: All TI-30X and TI-36X models
  • Use the built-in calculator available in the exam interface

This is a timed 8-hour practice exam with 80 questions. It closely mirrors the PE Civil Structural exam format.

PE Structural Practice Exam FAQ

Each of the two exams is an 80-question, full-length simulation that mirrors the real 8-hour computer-based PE Civil: Structural exam, with an optional scheduled break. Questions span all of the NCEES Structural topic areas — loads and load applications, forces and load effects, temporary structures, materials, and component design and detailing.
All five NCEES formats: multiple choice, select-all-that-apply (all-or-nothing scoring), fill-in-the-blank, drag-and-drop, and point-and-click on a figure. Select-all and the interactive types are graded exactly as on the real exam.
The simulator includes a built-in TI-36X Pro calculator and searchable PDF copies of the freely distributable references — AISC 360-22, AISC 303-22, and OSHA 29 CFR 1903/1926. You upload your own copy of the NCEES PE Civil Reference Handbook (we cannot redistribute it). Your progress is saved in the browser.
